Artist Profile
Marcel Tabuteau
Though not a living oboist, Tabuteau is the best know American oboist of the past century. Coined as the creator of the American style of oboe playing, he influenced dozens of young musicians as a professor at the Curtis Institute of Music. These musicians have gone on to spread his teachings, and more importantly, his musical interpretations. In his book, Sound in Motion, David McGill recalls the lessons learned by himself and others while at Curtis, sharing Tabuteau's method of approaching music and musicality. |
