Students are responsible for bringing a clean one subject notebook to each lesson. For online lessons, notes will be taken, saved, and be available in their MyMusicStaff account. Access to these notes is granted to both students and parents, and is an invaluable way to connect families to important studio documents, scanned music, and resources in and out of lessons. Lessons are currently available via Zoom or in person*
*Risk factors are reduced by practicing social distancing, using HEPA filters, disinfectants before and after each lesson, as well as utilizing separate sets of equipment (music stands, instrument stands, chairs, pencils, hand sanitizer, etc.). ATTENDANCE
While music lessons occur weekly, the best learning can only be fostered with consistent instruction, unimpeded by lapses of study, over an extended period of time. This is a shared responsibility between both students and parents, as well as the instructor. CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING
All lesson scheduling, make-ups, and cancellations are to be done through the MyMusicStaff (MMS) Calendar. Lessons canceled with at least 24-hour notice will be rescheduled by selecting an "Open-Lesson" slot on the MMS Calendar. Lessons canceled within 24 hours, will not receive a make-up credit and cannot be rescheduled (exemptions to this policy are by the strict discretion of the instructor). Within the calendar, make-up lessons can be rearranged to create larger slots. This can be done with one half-hour lesson to be made up in a singular hour by reserving a neighboring time slot OR cancelling another lesson and reserving two consecutive slots elsewhere. Make-up credits will max out at 4 credits and will expire after 90 days. Those who schedule individual lessons will be charged an additional $5 dollar rescheduling fee at their next lesson. If multiple lessons in a row must be missed for one reason or another (life does happen, and schedules do change), a rescheduling of each to-be-missed lesson must occur before the first missed lesson to avoid any penalties. Permanent lesson time changes can be accommodated. In the case a lesson must be canceled within 24 hours by the instructor for personal reasons, a make-up credit will be provided. Cancellations due to instructor's rehearsals, performances, or other music related opportunities will be rescheduled in advance. These professional experiences contribute to the overall success of the students and studio. ONLINE LESSONS
Internet based learning can be supplemented into any lesson package or coaching. Online lessons are are easy to execute and even easier to schedule. Options are, but not limited too:

How Lesson Plans Work
Starting September 1st, the studio will be shifting to a monthly billing cycle. You will be billed the same amount every month regardless of the number of regularly scheduled weekly lessons; some months will have 5 weeks, some will have 4—over the year's 52 weeks, missed lessons and extra lessons will even out.
All lessons will either be attended, canceled, or rescheduled based on the updated attendance policy. For any lessons I can not teach, a make-up credit will be given. Make-up credits will also be given if a lesson falls on a public holiday and either of us is unavailable. Make-up credits will max out at 4 credits and will expire after 90 days.
Honestly, my lenience with lesson scheduling will continue; I don't think I have EVER said no to a family that communicates what they need, and I plan on maintaining that trust.
There is a small studio registration fees for new and returning students on a yearly basis. This might be self-explanatory, but this offsets administrative costs, professional dues and ultimately keeps tuition rates lower.
Additional lessons will be offered to all active students for a greatly discounted price (perfect for extra lessons leading into an audition or booking a recording session), as well as multiple-student discounts.
The lesson calendar will be divided into quarters (FALL: Sept/Oct/Nov, WINTER: Dec/Jan/Feb, SPRING: Mar/Apr/May, SUMMER: Jun/Jul/Aug). While the quarters have nothing to do with billing, they have everything to do with your yearly/month-to-month status within the studio, and this is the system that will be replacing the lesson package incentive.
To keep your spot in the studio, you must maintain an active status throughout all four seasons. You may opt-out of any singular month within a season (we will call this an "off" month), but two consecutive off months within the same season will cause you to go inactive and will require a renewal fee to start lessons again.
Reactivation is simple; you will need to pay a pro-rated contract fee. The biggest thing here is the lack of a guaranteed lesson time after a few months of inactivity but allows for simple cancellations.
